CAFOD

On Friday 4th November, Angela from CAFOD came to our school to talk about what CAFOD do and tell them all about Pope Francis’ Year of Mercy.

Year 1 and Year 2 children reflected on what mercy means, Jesus’ teaching about Mercy and how they can show mercy in their lives. The children enjoyed finding out about the important work that CAFOD do and how we can link this to our school motto ‘Love one another as I have loved you’

In the assembly Angela showed us video clips from around the world which encouraged the children to think about: ‘Feeding the hungry’, ‘giving drink to the thirsty’ and ‘welcome the outsider’.

Angela led the children in Year 2 on a special reflection called ‘Welcome the Outsider’. Children will be helped to understand why people around the world are refugees and to say prayers that show solidarity to them.
